A Coastal Paradise Beckoning with Adventure

Welcome to Myrtle Beach, a magnificent stretch of 60 miles of shorelines along the azure Atlantic Ocean. Nestled in the warm subtropical climate, this coastal haven encompasses a treasure trove of unique experiences. At every turn, 20 million visitors a year find themselves captivated by the spellbinding variety of over 1,800 restaurants, each serving up a symphony of flavors designed to indulge every palate.

To ensure we had the best itinerary and didn't miss any attractions, I turned to my trusty travel companion, Viator! With its invaluable assistance, I found affordable attractions that seamlessly complemented our itinerary.

Know Before You Go: There are many attractions to keep you busy, but seeing them all in one weekend trip is impossible. Choose your must-see/do activities, and dedicate the remainder to the next holiday.

DAY ONE:

Adam and I arrived at the Myrtle Beach Airport mid afternoon, spending half our day traveling. After getting our luggage, we immediately grabbed our rental car and rushed to our hotel to prepare for our real adventure. This adventure started at the historic Myrtle Beach boardwalk, where we grabbed food and drinks at the Pier 14 Seafood Restaurant & Fishing Pier. When we arrived at Pier 14, live music was performed on the patio facing the Atlantic Ocean and the famous Myrtle Beach SkyWheel.

With a medley of relaxation and excitement already sprouted within us, we were off to explore the rest of what Myrtle Beach offered. From Pier 14 we stopped at a handful of bars and restaurants to check out their specialties but nothing compared. A few other tourist shops stops where made along the way, as I needed to secure my travel trinket. For those who don't know, I collect shot glasses from every new location I visit. It is just my little trip momentum because who has room to buy all those t-shirts!? Anyways...The sun started to go down over the Atlantic, and it was the ultimate Golden Hour. As we watched the unforgettable sunset pass, we had ice cream from Mad Myrtle's Ice Creamery.

DAY TWO:

On the morning of Day Two, our taste buds took an adventure at Croissants Bistro and Bakery as we dared to try something new: grits. We were pleasantly surprised by how much we enjoyed this Southern comfort food, and it felt great to step out of our usual culinary preferences. But that was just one highlight of our fun-filled day. Our journey then led us to La Belle Amie Vineyard, a breathtaking winery that left us in awe. It was a packed house when we arrived, so we could tell it was a local favorite. Muscadine wine was the star of the show, and we reveled in discovering its unique flavor profile and characteristics. The cellar master educated us on the unique qualities of muscadine wine, leaving us with a newfound appreciation for this distinct variety.

During the event, live music was on the large outdoor patio area, and people were picnicking wherever they could find space. La Belle Amie welcomes customers to bring personal picnics as they do not sell food there. We decided only to bring snacks because we knew we would want to discover a new restaurant or even eat at the beach after the event. After dancing for several hours and talking to many locals, we decided to return to town. Overall, it was a memorable experience that Adam and I will cherish for a long time.

On our way back into town, we stopped at Which Wich sandwich shop and picked out a big deli sub to bring to our next stop, Huntington Beach State Park. Many locals will tell you this is a MUST SEE as the State Park is right on the beach with 3 miles of wide-open sand and home to over 300 species of birds.

DAY THREE:

Hotel breakfast was the way to go this morning as we woke up early to beat the rush at the Brookgreen Gardens. According to Trip Advisor, this is one of the Top 10 Gardens in the United States. Since this is such a hotspot, we highly recommend arriving early as we did, as we found many reviews complaining about the long lines in the park. Fortunately, our tour of the Brooksgreen Gardens went smoothly, thanks to seamless coordination. During our visit, we were treated to an enchanting day of exploration and discovery, surrounded by 9,100 acres of property outside Myrtle Beach. We savored every moment exploring our favorite spot, Like Oak Allee, with the 300-year-old live oak trees that date back to the 1700s. Once noon came around, we started to think about food, and we thought it was fitting to have some seafood since we were in the historic fishing village, Murrells Inlet.

We discovered Fat Boys Smoke Pit and Oyster Bar, which was only a few miles away from the garden and had impressive reviews. The atmosphere was uplifting and just what we needed as we were exhausted from all the walking. After several drinks with the locals, we headed back through for our evening stroll down the boardwalk. Along the marsh walk, many restaurants feature the freshest seafood in South Carolina, live music, shopping, and much more.

Later, we stumbled upon Dead Dog Saloon - a one-of-a-kind spot with a quirky theme. When it comes to describing experiences and destinations, it's crucial to capture the essence of the moment with evocative language that transports readers to those magical places. Therefore, imagine a restaurant with one-of-a-kind mementos of dogs covering every inch of open wall space. Most of these dogs have passed away, and each picture holds their information (name, the day, the past, etc.) and a personal love letter to them in doggy heaven. Kids and families would write the sweetest things about their favorite memories or how much they missed them. Overall, this restaurant would warm any animal lover's heart and anyone's soul with its tasty South Caroline food. Ending our adventure here only made us appreciate that we would head home to our fur babies tomorrow. Undoubtedly, our whole trip around the Myrtle Beach area was unforgettable, and I hope it was or will be for you too.
